This gas inlet end cap valve is made from 304 stainless steel and comes complete with shower head which enables the solvent to be introduced evenly into the material column reducing dry spots. It comes as standard with a ¼” female NPT welded ball valve which is made from 304 stainless steel. Please be aware that the ball valve needs a fitting to attach a hose to it. This can be bought separately if you do not already have a fitting.

The user has the option to attach a pressure gauge enabling them to see what pressure they have in the material column.

This piece is made to work in conjunction with a gas recovery tank, the third port is multi-functional and is generally used for vacuuming the material column out or to add nitrogen into the system from the material column.

The benefits of upgrading to this gas inlet cross connection are as follows:

  • The ability to use nitrogen.
  • The ability to vac your system out from the material column.

The benefits of using nitrogen

When running a closed loop system the use of nitrogen can be very helpful as it allows you to move solvent around the system at subzero temperatures without the need for heating the reclamation tank. This lack of heat aids the dewaxing process and results in a clearer end product.

Nitrogen will build up in the system, increasing pressure at subzero temperatures, so bleeding the system will be necessary. This can be done from the reclamation tank or the base.

Vaccing system from the material column

Being able to vac the system out from here is really important if you are wanting to do multiple runs - it enables you to work much more efficiently as you can disconnect your material column and reload while you are still recovering solvent from your base.

There is no need to disassemble the whole rig. BHO's systems are superior in this aspect and save you time.

When you add the column back into the system you will need to vac the system out which cannot be done from the base, as this will be full of oil and solvent. Once the material column is back in situ you will need to vac the hose running back to the reclamation tank and the material column itself, down to the ball valve which connects to the base. This is crucial for two reasons: you don't want a build up of air in the loop, as this can be dangerous when mixed with solvent. Also, if you don't vacuum air from the system, once you add dry ice to the jacket moisture will build up inside the material column, causing problems with filtration and oil purity.
